Status: A Victorian Affair is a worker placement game set in 1888 London, where you compete to build the most prestigious name in high society. As the day progresses round by round, you will place social tokens to take actions such as acquiring furniture and art from a shared market, hosting soirées, and attending grand events tied to the specific time of day. As you build out your estate, you will physically place estate pieces into a unique three-story player house, creating an immersive table presence and unlocking powerful room bonuses on your player board. The game rewards careful planning and foresight. Interaction is centered on competing for cards in a shared market and carefully timing when to host and join events, rather than direct conflict. Each player chooses a unique character board that provides a special social ability and a distinct set of room bonuses. Replayability is high due to the variety of cards, the unpredictable timing of grand events, and the different combinations of player boards at the table.
