The Pusan Perimeter

June 25, 1950. Korean People's Army (KPA) troops pour across the 38th parallel. Soviet-built tanks lead the assault, supported with heavy weapons and equipment. Well-trained and organized, the KPA moves with a purpose. The Army of the Republic of Korea (ROK) on the other hand, lacks heavy weapons and tanks. In contrast, it is not well organized. Previously, fearing the ROK would attack North Korea, the US deliberately refused South Korea's request for heavy weapons. However, as KPA forces easily roll south, Truman is in a bind. There is no US defense policy that includes South Korea, but the invasion could threaten Japan, and Japan is critical to the stability of the free world.
